... dinner, so headed off the route to the nearest town. Also requiring fuel, we thought we would stop for fuel and food at the same time so drove passed a couple of fuel stations and then about 200m after passing another, the car died, all out of fuel! Not what we needed when starving! Luckily the fuel station had a plastic tub we filled to get us going again and fully refuel! Our bus up to Byron Bay took 13 hours, but it was quite luxurious compete with free wifi, USB plugs and quite comfortable chairs! After our journey, we checked into our hostel called The Arts Factory. This had been recommended to us, so we were looking forward to it. We arrived at Surfers Paradise at 9:00 following a short bus ride from Byron. We were unable to check in immediately so we set out to explore the area. The skyline was dominated by high rise hotels and apartments overlooking a long stretch of golden sandy beach with a bustling town centre packed with shops, restaurants and bars, a far cry from relaxed Byron.
