... to the local shark alley. Hopped in the water with a bunch of sharks and rays. Was amazing, the water was clear calm and shallow. Next stop was for fishing. I grabbed the manual spear (you pull it like a bow) and went snorkeling. Possibly for hours? Speared 3 fish... Including a parrotfish. Which aren't supposed to be hunted. Oops. Felt pretty dumb, but nobody acted like it was a big deal, it was going to be tasty at least. We ...

... yet my day was not over yet: across the street I found another tour company that takes you on night snorkeling trips! So with only a granola bar and rum punch in me for dinner, I boarded a small motor boat with just 2 guides (father and 11 year old son) and 3 other passengers, a family with a teenage daughter. Sitting on bar stools with your legs in the ocean was a pretty cool experience and really seemed to embrace the motto of 'go slow' in Belize. We were pretty sad to leave the island as it has such fantastic ocean life. But we certainly felt that we had made the most of our two days there and would recommend it to ...

... that much closer, ha. This weekend we were invited to go with a coworker's woman's group on a trip to Chetumal in Mexico, kind of like a retreat. It should be fun, then one more weekend left which will be spent in Placencia. My time is almost done here in Belize and I'm SOO excited to see my family and friends, but I'll also miss the girls I'm teaching at the Y and the other people I've met in Belize a lot.
