... 15 minutes a tuk tuk with 3 Scandinavian ladies in it, pulled up on the other side of the road, with the driver beckoning to us! The traffic just weaved around it as we risked life and limb running across the busy highway to catch it. Another 120 Baht and we were back at the shop that rented the bike to us, showed the photographs of where it was and caught a tuk tuk to the hardware store. So much for our saving on ...

Other cities have reasonable taxi fares – here the drivers have set areas they can pick up from and the price is set higher. Tourist’s complaints are rife, but that’s the system.

... surrounding Phuket. It looked similar to Halong Bay and was a great taste of what we've got to come. Within minutes of leaving Phuket airport we were in a minibus heading for seedy Patong. Our hotel, the Eastin Easy is just outside the crazy Bangla Road and is a brand new hotel. After settling in we headed out into the madness.
