    ... the opening of the Dubrovnik music festival (being opera and symphony music) but nevertheless it was lovely music that billowed around the corners of the small streets. The fireworks were incredible, very far from the calculated fireworks in New Zealand. With fireworks blowing up on the rafts they were being set off from, some hitting boats and some hitting the walls surrounding the city. But it was an amazing spectacle. We headed back to the room and headed off to sleep.

    ... from above. It made it lol so tiny from up on that mountain. There was a restaurant and bar (again expensive), but I just walked around and shot a few pictures as the sun went down. I was hoping for the best sunset in sunset history, but the dark clouds on the horizon covered the sun before it could work its magic. I took the cable car back down at dusk and walked around the city walls once more to catch the old town lit up. I loved how the walls ...

    ... Dubrovnik around 5:30, settled in to the hotel then for walk to the old town centre where it was absolutely bustling so we decided to eat dinner in a seafood restaurant in the old port (that Tajna, our intrepid leader had put us on to). What a view to eat dinner to! Looking forward to doing some exploring in the daylight ...

    We set off down the coastal road in Montenegro to see if we could get to Albania but after 80kms or so came up 2kms short - stopped by a river. But it wasn't all bad news as there was a little village built entirely on the river and six or so restaurants very pretty and peaceful, so had a quick coffee then retracted our steps to the restaurant we were told about in Vienna by the Gypsy.

    ... to a nice vantage point before driving back down to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Old City of Dubrovnik for a walking tour of its city walls. The entire old city sparkles as everything (buildings and pavements) is made of white limestone, although much of it has been rebuilt since the civil war in the 1990s.
