Bye bye Greek Islands...back to Athens

A travel blog entry by nicolapollard on Aug 06, 2014

... spend most of the next few days sitting on a bus, the last thing I feel like doing right now! Really wanting a few chill days but desperately wanting to get out of Athens as it is a filthy smelly city (the hostel is also smelly and ******). After looking at flights to go straight to split I saw that they all go through Rome so decided why not spend a few days in Rome on the way to split! Jess and Claire and a couple ...

    Paradise beach round 2

... a very different atmosphere at this time of the day, no music yet and even kids! No idea why anyone would bring kids to paradise beach. I reckon they will be making a killing off it! After fro yo we had ...

A travel blog entry by nicolapollard on Aug 02, 2014

Today we took the ferry to our next island destination, Paros! Paros is known to be more of a chilled out island so we were looking forward to relaxing after a couple of hectic nights out in Ios. The ferry was 2.5 hours but it was a big boat so plenty of room to move around. We checked into our cute little hotel and already could feel a more chilled atmosphere. Finally we had a smaller room with only 3 of us ...

... was not all bad. The tyrants built a series of temples and structures in order to solidify their rule of the city and appease the masses, as well as the gods. The gate to the Temple of Apollo built by the tyrant Lacedaemonians of Naxos still stands on a hilltop in clear view of the harbor, framing the sunset quite beautifully.

Following a quick lunch back at the ranch, Nathan and I spent the rest of the day lazing on the beach and swimming in the warm ...
