Tragedy at the Sunbird!!!
We stayed at the Sunbird "Condo" the month of Aug. 2004. We were so mislead! There are too many problems to mention, but let me try. First of all, we paid an additional rate for ocean front and king size bed. Our view consisted of a parking lot next door with bulldozers doing construction work. We could view the ocean, if we stood on the balcony ledge and stretched our necks out at our own risk. Our room was non smoking, but had cigarette burns. The furniture was old and stained. The wicker chairs were unraveling, and unsafe. The glass was broken on the living room table. We have a 3 year old and this is a big safety concern! We were given a full size bed instead of a king size. Come to find out, there were NO KING size beds in the entire condo. There were holes in the walls, stains on the carpet, and mildew in the bathroom. The ammeneties were not as described. There was no hairdryer, iron or board as promised. So now we get to go to Wal-Mart on our vacation to purchase these items. You could not turn around in the kitchen, it was so small. The balcony had no furniture . The valance to the blinds was laying in the floor. We were asked by the front desk to fill out a form describing the missing items, damaged, and dents and scatches in the room. This was not a problem. We did however, run out of room on the paper.
When we went back to the front desk, we were told we booked on line, so we would need to contact them. We did so, and of course all other rooms were booked in the entire city of Panama City Beach, according to the on-line service
The beach was beautiful and we had a great time, although we were mislead and did not get what we had paid for.
We just got back from our stay at Sunbird. The staff is very friendly. You have to go to the front of the building to go to the beach, no rear access to the beach from the condo. Do not stay in room 305 if you want a nicely decorated room. I just thought that sunbird was ok.
Sunbird still great!
This was our first trip back to the Sunbird in 14 years, and it's still a great place to stay--even with renovations in progress. Our condo was privately owned and was very clean and nicely decorated. The ocean view from our 8th floor balcony was wonderful, and it's unfortunate that vacations have to end!
We had requested a NON-SMOKING room, there were so many cigarette burns on the furniture we lost count. The room stunk so badly, we called the office, they brought a can of RE-Nuzit and left. There was so much mold on the bedroom ceiling you could write your name. This place is a disgrace! Beware people, I have been sick with a severe headache every since we stayed there. They did not offer to move us, we were on our own once they had our money, that's all they cared about.
We had a perfect time. We also booked over the internet, but once there we requested an ocean front room and they happily exchanged us for the penthouse at a slightly higher price, but well worth it. We stayed in room 1202 West Tower. Nice and clean, washer/dryer, no hair dryer, but just stand on the balcony and in no time the hair is dry. We plan to make the Sunbird our place to stay while in Panama City. And Pineapple Willy's next door was the best place to eat. We are very satisfied customers.
We have stayed in the Sunbird several times in the past two years. It is perfectly located and within walking distance to everything we needed. The view was great, and the property was gorgeous. There is nothing better than walking right out onto the beach. They also have tennis courts, so don't forget your racket. Great Facility- Highly recommended.
A Little Disappointed and Misled
Just returned from Panama City Beach and stayed in unit 701 East Tower. We were dissappointed for the following reasons: a. Since we rented off the internet instead of going through them directly, we were made to feel we got the "left-overs" and weren't given good service. b. ... said there would be hair-dryers and irons and ironing boards in every room. There weren't. Had to go to Wal-Mart and buy a hair dryer and never did get an iron or ironing board delivered to room. c. Housekeeping left the phone off the hook the entire time we were there. d. The main office would not answer the phone any time I tried to call down there. e. The side view is reserved for the "Internet customers". If you are on floors 1-3, forget any view except the buidling next door. 4 or higher is fine unless you are on the interior side. f. Our unit was much much less than a 3 star listing. I've stayed in nicer Motel 6's. We won't be returning to the Sunbird. On a positive note...the location is excellent and the pools and access to the beach are great!
Stayed at the Sunbird and had a magnificent, relaxing vacation. The view is awesome and the condo is clean and nicely decorated. I am planning to stay here upon my return to PC Beach next summer.
What an incredible Gulf View!
Rented 104-E in April of 2003, and the view was absolutely fantastic.
The ground floor unit was very convenient, and was only a few feet from the pool and the beach. The sunset views over the Gulf from the living room couch through the palm trees was beautiful, and the unit was nicely decorated and very clean. We plan to be back next year for sure!Laura and Gary Howie-Walters, Indianapolis IN
Loved This Condo
My wife and I took a chance on the Sunbird Condos back in May 2003.We rented from Lucy Massey and everthing was perfect. The condo was in perfect condition plus the view was to die for. Good food to great food very close by or not far away.We are planning another trip for Aug.2003.

... Thankfully we made it without incident.
The ceremony was sad, joyous, funny and so informative of Michael, and his journey through life. I am so glad we were able to travel to Florida and to take part in both days.
I had mentioned before in a previous chapter that it looked as though we may need a roof reseal on the Motorhome.

Last Thursday, I ventured out to the main highway to pick up an Amazon package at a Fedex store then drop off a couple Amazon returns at a UPS store, refill water bottles at local Publix market and take in a movie. It was hard trying to leave because as soon as someone heard our accents they always wanted to know where we were from and all seemed impressed with our drive across country.Things really fell apart when the barmaid shouted the bar with something she called Liquid Marijuana. I took advantage of the shade at the campsite and lurked around there for a while before heading back over to brave the beach. The swamp was absolutely stunning in parts, when we pulled off the main river into the little streams it was like another world entirely. Basically had entered Narnia. On the way out we saw a big alligator possibly between 8 and 10 feet. This one jumped pretty high and it was very impressive compared to the others. Once the tour finished up we ate lunch in the car park there ...
