Northern Peru

Crossing the border from Ecuador to Peru was luckily fairly straightforward - the bus stopped at some random customs point and as the only gringos we had to rush across the road to get our exit stamps from the Ecuadorian officials. When we got to Huaquillas, the border town, everyone except us and a Peruvian guy got off the bus, then the bus started to cross the bridge, lined with crazy markets and food stalls on both sides. The Peruvian border guards had a disagreement with ...

... catacombs in the Franciso monastery. Inside was a library that contained books 500 years old. These were hand written as they hadn't taken to the printing press invented by the Chinese. Fools. Beautiful books and amazing detail.
Next stop was a Spanish Inquisition museum. Lima was not too effected. Only 32 people were found guilty and killed for heresy.

We continued down town through hordes of bewildered locals until we arrived at a square where four school bands were ...

We pumped Mollie full of vaccine with help from an amazing pediatric nurse (same department, apparently) and got the hell out of Lima. If it weren´t for La Posada del Angel and this awesome local watering hole in the pictures below, Barranco´s nightlife would´ve fallen flat.

These damned photos won´t upload. It´s the second time its hanging at 98% due to the slow ...

... in the Digemin waiting room watching the equivalent of Peruvian C-Span - I was told that they would not approve the prescrition because they didnt have the medication I had in the FedEx in Peru. I kind of lost my cool with them becasue the medication is needed and the freegin reason it is being sent to me is because it is NOT in Peru! So after an hour of escalating my complaint withing the Digemin ranks they finally approved the ...

2.00pm: After your delicious meal, go and visit the museum. The Museo Larco (av. Bolívar 1515 - Pueblo Libre - http://www.museolarco.org/) is a fabulous experience in Lima . It displays an important collection of pre-Columbian art and is a very good beginning if you intend to visit Peru as it explains in a very clear way all ...

Experience Marcahuasi, 2eme jour

... either mentally or physically retarded - the majority mentally. As a result their behaviour is erratic and you do feel as you´re walking around in madness but the same again, I received nothing but the warmest, most loving response. The women surrounded us, giving us kisses and hugging us so tightly. It was remarkable and lovely. I was just so horrified to learn that most of these people had been found on the streets alone, left to their own devices. On meeting them it is so ...

Big smoggy Lima

... in the centre with a few palm trees around it – surrounded by a beautiful Cathedral and the Government Palace where the president lives. It was while sitting in the Plaza, a local sitting next to me started chatting and asked where I was from and what I did. Seeing that it was most likely that I would never see him again, I thought I would just lie and say that I was a student. He then asked what I was studying. I then replied by lying ...
