... Hope they bring back happy memories for those who've been here. ;-))

We leave Florence knowing we have only touched the surface of this wonderful city; however the memories we take with us are very special. Tomorrow morning we are on the bus to Siena where we will pick up a car before finding our way to our next home for 5 nights - an apartment on a wine farm in the Chianti area of Tuscany.

20 August Bronte has adopted the two teenage girls staying downstairs as her new best friends. They are very kind to her and Flynn, indulging them in long games involving balls and the pool. So today, Bronte has organised for us and for their family to stay in so that we can all play by the pool. Jo and I quite like their parents and grandparents so it has not been a chore. Other than the drive in, our big activity was visiting the statue of David in the Accademia Gallery Museum. It's in the second room, at the end of a long hallway with other Michelangelo works, but the David is breathtaking in it's detail and size. I enjoy art, but in all honesty I very rarely get excited about it. ... Chops Grille on Friday night.
We all enjoyed a lovely Italian meal and the staff all sang us a song which was nice. Our assistant waiter Petar is always showing us little tricks and is very nice. After the meal we were just finishing our drinks when the Maître d and the waiters all came over with a small cake decorated with Happy Anniversary and then sang us a song. Petar even used the lids from the butter and sugar containers as symbols. ...

... was 5 euro. The menu was draw on a sheet of paper with a line drawn down the middle, one side in Italian and the other in English. I asked for a coffee because it was cold and she said it wasn't good to drink it before a meal. They crack me up! So we had a glass of proseco, Greek salad, with cucumbers, onions, feta, tomatoes and olives, and caprese salad. Yummy! We bought orange and pink paper thin ponchos because it was raining so hard. ...
