... and went out to discover Venice. There were a lot of people in St Marco square, it felt like the world had descended on the place. We were getting hungry and found a nice little restaurant in one of the lane ways. Prices were more reasonable than I expected with pizza and pasta dishes being about A$15 each. After dinner we went down some lane ways which was like discovering something new around every corner. We decided to go ...

... because we have a lot of that type of stuff planned for our time in Rome (and Pompeii), but we did go inside Saint Mark's Basilica which was pretty neat. The architecture is really intricate and beautiful.

While on our cruise we will be visiting Dubrovnik - Croatia, Ephesus - Turkey, Santorini - Greece, and Katakolon (Olympia) - Greece. I'll update about our excursions and time on the ship once we arrive in Florence on the 14th or 15th.

... we should actually queue up for- well worth it! The cathedral itself was beautiful- gold mosaics, large sculptures and we climbed the stairs to the balcony for great views of the square and neighboring clock tower.

After this and slightly sick of all the people, we jumped on another boat and headed to Murano, a small island about 15 minutes from St Marks Square and famous for it's glass making. We arrived here after most of the shops and factories ...
