      On the road home

A travel blog entry by dkauten on Feb 15, 2015

Picked up the car at our friends, the Meadors. Hitting the road for Atlanta. Wow, it's been a whirlwind expedition! Feels like we've been gone for months. Can't believe how much we've seen and all the places that we've been in the last 26 days. I will certainly view so many of the places we've visited with a different set of eyes and opinions ...

I have been trying to prepare myself to go broke for nearly a month now, so hey, it looks like I'll be doing a great job at that!

... with the rebirth of cotton farming came the South’s first large-scale wave in industrialization; textile mills. Railroads were key to the profitability of cotton growing and textile manufacturing. They provided access to ocean ports, where the product could be shipped North or overseas, and to regional markets via new inland distribution centers such as Atlanta.

... packs them for easy storage on the bike too!!

This weekend I will start making the final preparations & start packing. You don't realize how little space there is on a bike for everything - not just street clothes, but normal riding gear, cold weather gear, rain gear, bike cover (for at hotels), tool kit, all camera, phone, & bluetooth chargers, laptop, and oh yea - food! So most everything needs a strategic spot to be stored for almost 2 ...
