    Friday 30th October

On the ship until 2.30 when we left by tender for the short service to Mykonos, one of Greece's most popular tourist islands. Here we wandered for an hour with Cindy & Mike before grabbing a well deserved beer in a cafe overlooking the famous windmills, formerly used to grind the island’s grain. The houses are all white washed pretty regularly & the streets, ...

... stand on a hill overlooking the area. Most windmills face towards the North where the island's climate sources its strongest winds over the largest part of the year. There are currently 16 windmills on Mykonos of which seven are positioned on the famous landmark hill in Chora. Most of them were built by the Venetians in the 16th century, but construction continued into the early 20th century. They were primarily used to mill wheat. ...

... but not with potato and patato. You know the song-you say tomato, I say tomato. Well imagine our glee at finding this place just after we have had a stupid conversation about it!!!! We were like who in the world would say patato-patata is pretty close(especially when it had a huge potato out the front of the place).

... was literally 50 meters from where we picked up our bags! So convenient. The hotel was beautiful and the beds were so comfy and inviting after out long travels. We were asleep nice and early and then up first thing the next morning to head to Naxos. For anyone that needs to stop in Athens on their way to an island. We would highly highly recommend it. We had a standard room but it was soooo beautiful and spacious and lush! And the beds were deliciously comfy! The windows ...

... sunset taking some good photos.
Home to freshen up before walking back along beach to beachside restaurant for tea. Tried a potato and garlic dish - surprised it was served cold. Very nice. Were entertained by half a dozen cats playing about restaurant - wouldn't happen at home. Shared garlic bread, Naxos salad, lamb souvlaki and baklava for desert. Another great meal to finish an enjoyable day. Can life really be this good???
