    We stayed Sunday at the Holiday Inn on Orange Beach, AL. What a beautiful beach! We walked the beach that evening and arose early the next morning to see the sunrise. While we were walking we noticed other people taking pictures. As we observed what they were watching, it was 2 dolphins skimming along the beach area as they were feeding. They never got very close but it was amazing just watching them approach the surface of the ocean.

    We asked around for idea's of places we could go with the pooches. We got a unanimous - Pirates Cove!
    Okay, that is where we shall go then.
    But first...a stroll around the beach here at the KOA.
    PC is a small cove with an old bar/"restaurant" on it. We were told we would get the best greasy burger we've ever had there. Challenge accepted!

The parade ground of Pickens is half-filled with a huge concrete gun battery that was added in 1898 after it became clear that the new technology on ships had made the old brick batteries obsolete. That building is an enormous eyesore--all painted in stark black paint.
