This morning we anchored in Rhodes. We were surprised that most of the shops were open eventhough there were very few tourists. Later we learned that they actually opened just for the 2 cruise ships tourists. Rhodes is a nice town. We walked along the shops and had coffee before returning to the ship.

Island hopping from Turkey to Greece
Being the end of the season we could not go to Crete Island directly, hence our first boat which was only an hour mind you was from Marmaris to Rhode Island, Greece. Now unfortunately our Eurail pass was not valid in Turkey so we were paying for all our transport. Being an international ferry, for only an hour on the boat it cost 45.00 euro each - little we could do about it however!

Stinky Man
... to be interesting to watch as the big ship we saw was parked directly behind us, with not much more than 20 feet to spare. Also, we had two ferries on our opposite side. To make things worse, the wind was picking up in a big way and was strong enough that it was blowing us around pretty good. In the end, it was pretty routine and the ship move sideways deftly, without even being bothered by the wind and we backed right out of the narrow harbour.

... like the Templars, but when the Templars were outlawed by the Pope and forced to disband with just the wealth they could carry, the Knights of St. John inherited the rest. The city itself was a beautiful warren of winding cobblestone streets that were filled with flowers and cute little shops. The shopkeepers were not aggressive at all, but very helpful if needed.
