Great for kids and adults!!!
We stayed at Splash last week and loved it. The room had everything we needed and more. Since we had went in mid April the water was still cool (expected). The kids play area was great. Even though the water was freezing, there were still plenty of kids having a blast! The lily pad area was great because it was gated in and younger kids couldn't run off. You can turn them loose and relax in the sun and not worry they might fall in a pool.
You can relax in the hot tub and watch your kids play in the water park area. (just a few feet away!)
We never waited no more than 15 seconds on an elevator and everything was right there as you stepped off. The game room was just ok for me. I had to put in .50 just to play one game of Mrs. Pac-Man. (That made me ill...) We had a card to rent DVDs but we never got around to it, it looked pretty simple though.
There is an Alvins Island gift shop across the street but it is connected to the condo. You could either get there by crossing the street or by using the walk way tunnel. (Which was great for my child since he could run wide open and us not worry about traffic) They also had a small store which sold beer and ice cream cones. No milk though... and that's what we needed most.
Although this place is located futher down the beach from where the miracle strip used to be and it was away from all of the great places to eat.... it was still worth it.
This place was great!!! We will be going back for sure when it warms up more. We can't wait!!
Best Place To Stay In PC If You Have Children
What a great place to stay!
Forget what previous reviews have said. I just got back from Splash and it was wonderful! The place is beautiful and there are no longer any "new condo" issues that were listed in the other reviews.
So now you get brand new resort that is unbelievable for the price. They really did a great job making the interiors and surroundings colorful and fun. Covered parking keeping your car cool, DVD rentals and an mini arcade (where all the machines worked) for those rainy days and a friendly staff that takes time to say hi as you pass them in the halls. You also have an Alvin's and an ice cream/sandwich shop that is connected to the parking lot to supply those assorted things you need while you are down there.
I found my rental through VRBO.com listing #118512. I talked to the owner and he was friendly and informative. We stayed in room 2103 which was a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a bunk bed in the hall, and a pull out couch, so everyone was happy with the sleeping arrangements (something I also couldn't get anywhere else for this price). Being on the 21st floor, we had a wonderful view of the ocean from our spacious deck in all directions. There were sliding glass doors to the deck from the living room and master bedroom. The room had free local calls, which you don't see much anymore and also had free wired high speed internet. The condo had large bedrooms with walk-in closets. The master bedroom had a wheel chair accessible shower and a large tub. The kitchen had natural oak cabinets with granite counter tops. It was well furnished with new furniture and artwork with a beach theme. Very nicely done!
And if you have young children, like we have, there is truly no better place to stay! The pools are fantastic! Coming down during the sometimes cool weather of spring break, I felt fortunate to stay in a condo where two of the pools and the Jacuzzi were heated, but that didn't stop my kids from playing in the fantastic, un-heated, water playground and the lazy river pool ride which is a pool that has a current that slowly floats you around it's oval course on floats provide by Splash. If you have young toddlers, try the lily pad area with the large frog and turtle that have water jets that come from all directions that the youngsters really enjoyed. I see all of those pools really being fun as the weather gets warmer. Also, one of the heated pools and the water playground are covered so if you get too much sun, or just don't want any, you can stay there. Genius!
When peak season starts, they are going to offer "dive in movies" where the family watches a movie in the pool at night and a food bar at the pool. There were also gas grills by the pool if you feel like cooking out while you are there.
Splash also provides a workout room where the machines over look the beach. I can't discribe that room, but I can tell you all about the ice cream shop! ;)
The beach was wonderful. There were Wave Runners, Para Sail, and banana boat rides rented right from our section of beach. Plenty of beach front (don't be decieved by my pictures from our room.)
I know this sounds like a paid ad for the place, but I feel that if a business really does something right, like Splash has, you really need to tell others about it.
I have been coming down to the panhandle of Florida all of my life and feel like I have found the perfect place to stay. Thanks Splash! We had a GREAT time!
We loved Splash & so did our children
My family ,wife , son age 10 and daughter age 8 stayed at splash from april 6 to April 13. We stayed in a Sandbar unit 2 bedroom 2 bath with bunk area.
The rooms was very clean and nicely decorated. The 'waterpark'
was great fun for my children though the water was cold. My son would hop from there to the jacuzzi to one of the heated pools.
The workout room was excellant and overlooked the ocean. The arcade had plenty of games and plenty of room.
i was told by the manager that they were totally booked for 7 straight days the first week of April, and had a baptism under fire, but things seemed to be well in hand.
our condo was on the 21st floor and we experienced no waits for the elevators and were whisked from the ground floor to the 21st floor in 21 seconds.
many of the units are on the Sterling rental program which entitles you to 2 free dvd rentals per night, and other amenities .
Splash common areas are nicely decorated and all the beach amenities are there such as jet skis, beach service, but this are separate from Splash and cost extra.
if you have children under 14 years old this is the place to stay.
the location west of 79 is away from the high traffic area, but is still within minutes of all the fun activities such as Gulf world, putt putt golf.
Splash has plenty of friendly security folks that can assist you with any questions. you could tell that most visitors loved this place and by the traffic at the real estate kiosk looked as if they were ready to purchase their own unit.
My family and I just returned from a week (3/31-4/6) at this new complex. We stayed in the East tower and did not experience any construction problems. We did not see any construction equipment/
painting going on in the lobby either. There were some people moving furniture but this was not an all day event. The pools were clean and a heated. My 8 year old loved the water park area. This was Spring Break but the complex was very quiet by 9:00pm. The pools closed at 10:00pm and security was monitoring the pools and the complex all of the time. The only place not open at this time was the pool side bar and grill. There were no dive in movies scheduled but I think they must be more of a summer event. The air was too cold, once the sun went down, for anyone to be in the water at this time of year. The fitness center is wonderful with all updated equipment, overlooking the ocean. We rented through VRBO and the owners provided chairs/umbrella during our stay. This was an added bonus that came with our rental. It was a one bedroom/2 bath on the 3rd floor. Comfortable king size bed, sleeper sofa, bunk beds for the kids, 2 flat screen tvs, washer/dryer, and many extras. We took the stairs alot since we were on the 3rd floor, but I never saw people waiting a long amount of time for the elevators. The only wait
was on Saturday when we arrived. Many families were coming in at the same time. We rented a jet ski one day and had no problems. Alvins Island is located in the 1st level of the parking garage which we found very convient. The garage is just a short distance over the highway by way of an air-conditioned walkway. We worked directly through the owner of VRBO#107010 and had wonderful service. Had to call them once to find out where the sheets to the sleeper sofa were and they were in the airport. Within 15 minutes we had sheet arrive. Overall great trip and we will return.
A GREAT STAY FOR OUR KIDS!!!
We just came back from Splash last week. We stayed with another couple in a windsong unit with 5 kids. I saw the other bad reviews and was shocked since we had just a fun time. Our unit was on the 7th floor and we had both master bedrooms on the ocean. We stayed the week of april 1 - 7th. All the pools were working and were very clean. In fact every morning we went out they were cleaning the pools before they opened.
The waterpark was a blast. The kids played between that and the lazy river the entire time. We were very pleased with the service and overall look of the project. We have been going to PCB for years and there is no other project in the area with all the different kids activities.
The grill was not open yet but that was told to us when we booked that it was only open from Memorial Day to Labor day. The same was told to us for the dive in movies and no one ever told us there was a putt putt course?
Sounds like some of the other folks with the bad reviews were misrepresented by whomever they rented their unit from.
Our family had a great time and the kids are already asking when we can go back. Great Place to stay with kids....
Don't stay here!
*** RENTERS BEWARE*** Make sure you have the unit # on your confirmation sheet! We recently booked a unit through VRBO - #119210. It was represented that we were renting the 18th floor unit with 3 bedrooms, 2 of which were facing the gulf. When we arrived, we were told that the 18th Floor unit had been rented to someone else, and ALL they had available was a first floor unit, with only one bedroom facing the gulf. We were offered a refund, but at that point where were we to go? We contacted the supposed owner of the unit, and he said he was just a "Travel Agent" and he never promised us any specific unit (even though we had conversations regarding "his" unit and the contents of it). The Front Desk manager was very nice, but had no power to remedy the matter. She was not even empowered to adjust our rate. We were duped into paying a premium for the 18th floor unit and received the value of less than half of what we paid! To top it off, literally, we were directly above the acclaimed arcade and water park which kept us awake into the wee hours. In addition, we were 20 feet from the garbage shoot, and the unit next door was still under construction. In fact, so was the unit we were in. There were 5 construction isses that we had to wait around for (during our vacation) to allow access to the unit within the first 72 hours of our stay. This VRBO #119210 site owner also misrepresents that the complex is complete - not true. The units around us were under construction; there were 20 to 30 minute waits for elevators as appliances and construction materials were loaded into the only elevators to take you to the upper floors; the lobby was being painted and drywalled; the pool bar was not complete or operational; the arcade took money from the kids and did not provide the games and/or prizes and contractors/furniture deliverymen/appliance deliverymen were everywhere. In addition, the place was poorly maintained. The second time my 2 year old showed me a cigarette butt in the pool (even after requesting the pool be cleaned) one of the other guests next to us decided to clean the pool herself of the cigarettes and the popcorn that had been floating for 3 days. These units provide the value of $99/night units, not the $249 they charged us!
We just stayed at this resort , and we have been staying in pcb for over 20 years now and this was the worst vacation we have ever had .We dont even want to go back. This is a list of problems we had locked out of our room for 3 hours one night because the door handle fell apart, we had to use a crow bar to get out, dishwaher had to be worked on 3 times, dryer didnt work very well,no dive-in movie pool as advertised, no miniature golf as advertised, not allowed to rent movies at resort because we rented from an owner and not thru sterling, door on fitness center could not be opened unless you were really strong, front deask is a joke, construction going on every where , moving of furniture all day, bowling alley broke every time it got used, electric was out for part of a day,no t.v. signal for parts of 2 days, aquatic rentals on the beach almost ran over people one day at the beach with their truck, no phones, no bar and grill open, pools closed off and on.I dont care if it is new, it was not ready to open and we feel like we were ripped off because of this, we are so glad to be back home.I cried several times because of this terrible place. Also teens were sneaking in to the pools.Dont stay there if y9ou want a vacation stay somewhere else.
We had a great time!
When I arrived with my family at the Sterling Splash Resort we were very pleasantly surprised. Our unit (weekly rented condo) was beautiful. It was tastefully decorated and had all the conveniences we were expecting plus a few we hadn't. Not to mention the 3 flat screen TV's! The pool area was great with 3 pools (2 heated) a large splash area for kids and a small splash area for toddlers, all next to the beach.
From what I saw while driving in the area, it would appear that this is one of the nicest resorts in the Panama Beach area. It had convenient out of the way parking, lots of comfortable lobby area seating with great views of the ocean and a good clean workout room also with a panoramic view of the ocean. And speaking of the ocean and beach: White sand and blue and turquoise shallow water!
I was very concerned that being a new resort It wouldn't be completed in time for our vacation, however the only thing not up and running during our stay, March 11th to 17th, was the pool side snack bar which is a very small area behind one of the pools and therefore hardly noticeable. (I was told by staff, who were friendly and helpful, that it would be completed in April 2007). Being a condo resort I missed the services and amenities (like room service and restaurants) of a hotel resort, but having a 2 bedroom condo with a full kitchen more than made up for it. Plus we were having too much of a good time to really notice. We will be going back!
Not ready for guests!
Splash is not ready for guests to stay here yet. The pools are not all open, the snack bar near the pool is not open, the phones do not work, and the staff does not seem to care. It is still under a lot of construction, lots of noise and lots of "dust". Maybe in a year it will be ready, but right now, I would stay someplace else. We were very disappointed for the price we had to pay. Calypso is down the street, and looks beautiful!
WILL be great but not there yet
Once this place is finished, it will be awesome!!! But, we went for a long weekend and the kids' water park was not working/not complete, the pools were not all heated, and there was work equipment and caution tape all over. We drove 6 hours to get there and were never once told upon booking that it was not all complete. The elevators were only sometimes working, and we were staying up high, so that was a problem. Management was great, however, and we switched to another hotel after one night and got a refund for our unused night.
On the upside, the units were absolutely wonderful!!! Very spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. Beach was beautiful.
Little problem of someone mistaking our unit for theirs and THEIR key card fit OUR door.
They need a few months to finish and work out the kinks but we will definitely go back once that happens.

Our penultimate day on the road saw us make our way to Panama City for a stop over at a beach resort. Situated on the Gulf of Mexico the resort boasts white sand and warm water, with a generous pool and splash park it is a great place for a family vacation. We were greeted by a tropical storm which saw the pool closed due to the numerous lighting bolts lighting up the sky.Our plan ...
