Following the Animas to Silverton, we set our sights on the peaks surrounding Ouray. The Tacoma took us back through the valley and we stopped shortly at Idarado to explore the much younger ghosthouses. The pastels and funky turquoise shutters definitely screamed the 70's.

Today we left the trailer in Montrose and drove back up into the mountains. We were trying to get to a ghost town called Alta that was at the end of a 4 mile dirt road. We left the pavement at about 8,000 feet and started climbing.
