Chicago, IL stop

... I don't know if the food was good or if we were hungry but it didn't take long for us to devour it.

The Chicago skyline was much different at night than in the daylight. After weaving through traffic to get out of the city, we remembered how beautiful it was when we were here last. We wanted to get back on the road so we can stay on schedule to get to New Jersey by Tuesday.

Starting Point

This is where we started. We left McHenry, Illinois on Friday Sept 18th, and headed down to Chicago and skated the city a while. Wilson Skate park was my favorite, and got lucky with a free skate demonstration with Eric Koston, and his Nike SB crew. Met a Local skater named Robbie, who told us about the event. We had a blast ...

Monday 7th.

Boo Hoo! We leave today.

We spend our morning strolling Magnificent Mile, admiring the Chicago Water Tower and the Chicago Avenue Pumping Station opposite, just about the only historical constructions left in this area. This strange 1869 building sticks up like a sand castle in the middle of urbanity. Just behind ...

At the station, the waiting room was packed with travelers of all sorts: families, couples, college kids, retirees... My pal, Steve, the Station Agent, hollered a loud "Well ...

Chicago Delights!

Well here we are fully rested from our train from New York.

Woke up to a heavily overcast day with thunderstorms forecast, but we are still going to venture out! After breakfast, we hit the streets! Didn't take long to find the shops....hardly surprising really as the hotel is in the thick of it! Chicago is much better than New York, streets less crowded!

First thing we did was to buy a 3 day pass for the ...

The journey over to that part of the world is a long one. We take a 13 hour flight to Tokyo, have a 3 hour layover, and then take another 7 hour flight down to Singapore. Yep, you added correctly, that's 23 hours. We'll be spending this weekend in Singapore visiting friends and adjusting to the ...

Moving to Chicago!

To keep things interesting and to avoid that restless feeling of finishing up our long trip, we decided to move to Chicago. Well it didn't quite happen like that. Actually Amy got a great job in the Midwest and since Chicago was on our top 5 (#5 to be exact) of places we would consider living in, we made the jump ...

5th stop: Back to Chicago

... and then some). Mathew and I were able to go on nice walks and found some great places (including a Turkish restaurant and a tiney steak house). Love the neighborhood - so lively and rich of culture - nothing I expected from the "mid-west". - DEEP DISH PIZZA! Mathew and I now both agree that there is no room in this world for thin crust ...
