The closer we got to Wrightsville the more boat traffic we encountered it was like a lake in the summer, we had tubers go right I front of us do they not see we are big! I loved this narrow passage way but for navigating you had to really watch the depth there were sand bars all over. The locals would drive their boats right up onto the sand bar and play in the water or fish.
