... we were a last minute booking, we scored the best room and owned this magnificent outlook for the next couple of days.

The French and German hosts were beautiful and generous. Our fellow German and Irish guests were equally charming and friendly. Sharing breakfast with these folk was enlightening. To hear others travel experiences and adventures is always interesting and inspiring.

... relaxing day with James in Massat where we had some lunch and a beer in Le Globe, where the owner Jean-Pierre looked after JP's vegetarian wishes. We started with a smooth 20km downhill ride through the valley from Luchon, passing through small villages and farms. At Fronsac we started our first climb, the Col ...

... cyclists for generations. A long, twisting descent took us past the ski station of La Mongie all the way down to the valley below. At the tiny village of Saint-Marie-de-Campan we turned back into the mountains, heading up to the next climb, the Col d’Aspin (1489m).
