Had a really wonderful time during our 3 night 4 days stay at the Sofital Palms Dubai. Staff were very helpful, even upgrading us to an apartment because our Seaview room was not yet ready to occupy at 10am. We ate at a different restaurant each evening, were warmly greeted by the host/hostess and all meals were presented & served beautifully. A great hotel for a short break or longer stay.

After our busy morning tour we had a great afternoon relaxing by the pool. A delicious lunch In the very posh hotel restaurant then into our swimmers & into the water to cool down. We were able to order our cocktails from the poolside bar. What a change from last week when we were still walking the Camino...amazing!!

Today we have booked a four hour tour of the city. We had an English speaking guide who was very detailed in telling us the history of the rise of Dubai in the 30's to its present day world renowned wealth. Very interesting as we visited the spice markets, the museum of the old city, and its many new luxurious five star buildings.well worth our time!!

Wednesday 10th JuneToday at 3pm we are heading off on a Desert Safari for 6 hours, really looking forward to out four wheel drive in the desert. This morning we had a leisurely breakfast then wandered down to the beach....really funny, water was beautifully clear, but surf as flat as a tack, no waves at all and as warm as bath water.....still... …

More evidence that sight-seeing is shopping

We were still at sea when we woke. Paul and Kyla went to get coffee, then we three sat on the balcony, reading, for a while. Breakfast upstairs, followed by disembarkation information in the theater. It was not terribly helpful for us, as we have used similar disembarkation proceedings before … and it was annoying on two levels: the hostes...

    Dubai... or rather Mumbai????

We landed in Abu Dhabi early in the morning from Istanbul. I rented a car online but I wasn't allow to drive the car without an International driving license as I was told that Abu Dhabi are very strict when it comes to driving. Tired and frustrated, we quickly book a night's stay at a nearby hotel costing RM650 per night. UAE is a special count...
