... buckets of water from the tiled floors upstairs and the garden now has herbs, tomatoes, aubergine and a calabacin alongside the neatly tied up and weeded habbas. It felt wonderful to select and plant veg from the market last Saturday, but Seb was cautious not to plant too much as water becomes scarce here in the summer. I strolled round town yesterday....quietly enjoying exploring. It's very different ...

We've just celebrated Easter, with a fast amount of food! Three things seem important here. Gigantic platters of lamb, thick walled pastries and family. I was lucky enough to be invited to join my friend Seb's family. He's the youngest of seven children most of whom were able to join us yesterday and we all squeezed around a big table for fried offal, mixed with artichokes, broad beans and red pepper. The interior a cross between ...

... knocking comically close to my chin, onto the quiet roads leading to Binissalam. It's a pretty 'real' town with a slightly musty smell emanating from ancient wooded doors under Arab arches. The Romans left their mark, but it feels moorish mixed with a contemporary desert town built on a grid plan. The residents are as mixed as the periods of architecture, fair blond haired children dance along dirt roads alongside their olive skinned and black peers. Mallorca is ...

... and we ended up strolling back down to town together, striking up a walker's friendship, admiring the twisted trees and spring flowers. She seemed intrigued by the workaway experience and seemed ready to plan a year escape from her social work in Berlin! "I thought it was just young people who did stuff like that" she said....laughingly I smoothed my non-existent wrinkles! The police are on the marine road....checking if you have permission to drive here now. A ...
