... Tawau town is 28 kilometers from the airport, whereas Semporna is 95 or so KM. There is absolutely nothing in Tawau town. It's a big town with a few shops and a few five story buildings, but absolutely nothing exciting ever happens in this town. This town is the gateway to Indonesia. It's hard to describe just how good the diving was here. We saw countless Turtles and Sharks, as well as loads of other fish and great coral. Sipadan is well worth the money! Mabul was pretty nice too, we liked Uncle Changs where we stayed and even snorkelling on the jetty was great. We met some nice people, including Juraj from Slovakia and had a few drunken nights. ... ways, the babies were of course utterly adorable but had competition from some of the youths who did forward rolls and swinging acts much to the crowds amusement. We would have loved to stay for hours if it wasn’t for the heat.
