430 Marine Parade Biggera Waters, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
After ringing several caravna parks around surfers paradise finally found an availability and set off on the short drive to Amusement Park Central. Got set up and had a quiet afternoon boys playing on the jumping pillow and various other activities around the park while Denzel slept. Tried to get a few ...
Helensvale, Queensland, Australia drownsroundaus... walk and am greeted with miles of clear sand and sea, about 3 people in site and a blazing hot day. Its blustery so I cant maneouver my towel down properly and everytime i get to sit on it it flaps sand up in my face. I slap on some suncream and promptly get showered by sand which immediately sticks to every part of me. There is sand on my water bottle so im drinking sandy water. Then a giant horse fly starts attacking me, it really is aggressive and wont leave me ...
North Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia clairebr... is looming up in the distance. This tanker certainly sees us and we have seen him. A quick call comes across the airway of the HF radio; it is the Redcliff Coast Guard trying to attract our attention in regard to the said tanker - just in case we were in the way - we were not but you never know what other small boat get up to out here. I report our exact location - lat/long and they are happy. All panic stations for nothing, but it is good to see that someone is on their ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia nancyjean... show and dolphin show. For small children there is the Sesame Street show which we gave a miss to. Moviewold saw plenty of stars around the place. Went on a couple of rides including the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster - this was going okay until the roller coaster bit in the middle. We both agree that roller coasters are not our thing.
Biggera Waters, Queensland, Australia pfmartyn... We were glad to partake in this phenomenon as we had a great meal with ocean views for not any more moneyh than a medicocre meal at aa shopping mall would have cost us. Our last stop on the Gold Coast was also not available in SoCal as it was at an australian wildlife refuge (it's hard to imagine what kind of wildlife one would have at a SoCal refuge). The refuge was originally started by some guy putting out bird feeders. But it now functions as a refuge for ...
Tweed Heads, Australia jenandjeffmilum... bars, restaurants, shops everywhere. The beach is amazing, the waves are huge (hence the name) and there is such a buzz about the place. As we've done so many activities, there is little left to do. i really want to go surfing and this would be the place to learn but my shoulder is still injured from the crash so it is a no-no. Basically, it seems to be routine now. get up, go to the beach, go home, get ready, go out, get drunk. Sorry if it sounds like i'm ...
Surfers Paradise, Australia blythie... s house and then came home again. We left around 6ish it was getting dark already too, which was weird. Once we got home we got in our PJ's and chilled at the house. Watched TV, played cards and chatted. We were all in bed by 9pm. I was so tired I'd been up since 4am Aussie time so even longer when you add in the time change from BC. Great day though but very tired!!! I am soo excited to finally be in Australia!!!!
Brisbane, Australia ashhwall... minutes. He fell, then he turn around and hit something with his leg. I was reminded of a stand up comic that said, "You know you are getting old when you fall and the first thought on everyone's minds is concern." This exactly what happened, there were about 50 people in the room and it was dead silent. Nobody knew if they should laugh or call the hospital. After Brand laughed, everyone knew it was ok to have a laugh about it and not call the hospital ...
Brisbane, Australia jontheman... and asks me, "Do you know a girl named Adrian? She's from Canadia, you know here right, mate?" I'm stunned, absolutely blasted, floored by the question. All I can do is pause for a moment then burst into unchecked laughter. Frodo's dumbstruck. She's slack-jawed, totally confused as to why that question would elicit such a raucous response. "She's got red dreadlocks," she says, as if that might trigger something. I'm on the floor now, rolling around like a mental patient ...
Brisbane, Australia chattermouth... in Noosa it was grey and overcast. Not to be disheartened, we took a trip to the beach, rain or shine. It was decidedly more of the former. After spending the first two and half months of this trip along the coast, I was experiencing severe beach withdrawal. My tan had vanished, so nothing (not even a little rain) was going to keep me away from the waves. It was brief, but I was thankful to be amongst the water and sand once again. The first night in Noosa was spent catching up ...
