    river had been cancelled. We then went to Matthiessen State Park. It too was
    flooded, but we were able to take the hiking path through the park. We did have

    ... of how stunning it was! Arequipa has a reputation for being a beautiful city. It also has a very different feel. Granted we were there on a Sunday, which typically means many things are closed, but we weren't being harassed everywhere we went. Sure the taxis still honk when they drive by (just in case you realize last minute you forgot you wanted a taxi!) but less people were trying to sell us stuff in general.     No, we didn't forget about Friday. We'd LIKE to forget about Friday, though, so we're not going to write about it, except to say that we drove from Durbin, West Virginia, to Shepherdsville, Kentucky, some of the time in the pouring rain.     were lead out. Once you’ve seen one bull
    chasing a matador, you’ve seen them all.
    Highlights of the show included a matador dressed up as a woman who was

    Still, our suitcases are filling up rapidly. Excitement is in the air!

    We've recently been reading about our family ancestors' travels across the U.S. prairies in search of a new way of life. We've got those same "pioneer" genes so we can relate...but we're glad to know we'll be coming home in a few weeks.
