Crete, Chania (ps: that's the city) Whoppee, what an exciting place. WWEEELLL it was interesting. Actually we enjoyed it? WWWEEELLLLLL, we went there. The weather was nice. WWEELLLL it was a LITTLE cool. NO...NO.. it was a balmy 16C and sunny. There was not a lot to see there. We did visit a 500 year old synagogue. They had the oldest Mikvah in Europe. I've walked up and down every alley of the old port - twice - explored the beaches, the lighthouse - been to all the museums, sat & played backgammon, checked out all the modern shops etc etc . ... our family trips to Woods Point, except granny tumbled down the bank whilst this granny managed to balance, get herself back on the bus & from then on stayed put in her seat all the way back to Chania, so that was the problem all along. Probably too much information but was main distraction for the trip back to Chania.

What a beautiful place - the Old Port with it's wide walkway, the Marina with it's variety of boats and all framed by a beautiful rock wall creating a breakwater. The gap into the port is quite narrow, lighthouse on one end and tower on the other.

Started the day with a late breakfast, yet another big breakfast, how much do they think one person can eat? Fresh squeezed orange juice, tea, yoghurt, toasted sandwich, ...

... is in perfect position, room is just gorgeous, huge room with 4 poster bed, all decked out with old furniture - 50 m from the water, an old semi circular port with walkway all around & tavernas all along the waterfront. Arrived in dark tonight so looking forward to exploring tomorrow.

So .. just checking in so you know here in Crete safely, can't keep my eyes open though & off for sleep, got some catching up to ...
