... to New Year which I’m quite excited about. Unfortunately we are not close enough where we will be able to see the ball drop (FYI the ball is so much smaller than you would think). We are going to celebrate the UK and French (family tradition) with champagne in the flat facetiming our families and then might venture out for a bite to eat before we return to the flat for our final sleep (on a blow up bed kindly lent to us by Greg and Nat).

We walked along the water’s edge to get to our ferry for a ninety minute tour of the city by water. That was relaxing and enjoyable. We saw the main sites again but they looked a bit different from the water. We had lunch on the ferry as it was easy to get. We saw the statue of liberty as we came quite close to it but more on that tomorrow as we have tickets to the crown … we are hoping that it doesn’t rain like its forecasted too.

... of Columbus Circle (a roundabout) which had recently been renovated. Around the edge of the circle they have planted lots of flowers and installed some small fountains with backing lights. At night it really does look beautiful. In the middle of the roundabout we came across a 15 foot tall, 2 and a half ton concrete bear with a camera hanging from his neck, like a Central Park tourist. ... to follow that today we caught a train down to Prospect Park in Brooklyn, designed by same man who designed Central Park. Huge with a fishing lake in it and big trees and squirrels and in top corner after a long walk, there was the Brooklyn Museum, we felt better than MOMA and with more interesting displays including a display entitled "Killer Heels" with the history of high heeled shoes, also Egyptian displays and some notable paintings by Cezanne, ...

Times Square was Times Square. Exactly what you would expect it to be, crazy busy with lots of advertisements and lights. I had assumed that much of Manhattan would be like Times Square with a lot of people but was pleasantly surprised otherwise.
