... It actually ended up being a fabulous day. A burst of energy at Bloomingdales to kick it off, followed by high tea at The Plaza complete with Eloise crockery and cutlery, and an afternoon spent at Macys, Barneys, Bergdorfs, Saks, Lush and various smaller chains along the way. We ventured home with a small army of bags and exhausted legs. Bella's other highlight would likely be her B'day. What 12 year old would complain about cupcakes at Magnolia ...

It was Martin Luther King day and the Empire State Building was to be lit up in red, black and green to commemorate the day which is why we chose to go up to the top of Rockefeller Center at sunset. I can't describe the view to you and the photos don't do it justice but let me say, if you get the chance to visit New York, make it a holiday day. The lights are beautiful. Eventually we came back down ...

... M Store in Times Square, we were picked up at the pier. We braved the elements to ride the bus on the top level to get the best pictures we could considering the obstacles. I labeled pictures that were not self-explanatory. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum were our goal. The sight of the new World Trade Center One was like a beacon drawing us in. At first, they were going to call it the Freedom Tower but they decided World Trade Center One was more fitting. The fountains ...
