... you're standing up for ~9 hours, without any facilities, to see a 30 second ball-drop and confetti fall. With this information we decided that Central Park would be a better option, as there is a free concert and fireworks there. Leaving our hotel at midday, we wandered past Broadway (looking towards Times Square) and saw masses of people in the distance so we continued onto Central Park (stopping for lunch at a diner). After exploring Central Park for a few ...

After a great breakfast with Uncle Bob at the Sugar Bowl, we parked at the train station to take the train into New York City for the day! Our 6th floor room is small to the say the least - so small we couldn't both get in dragging our cases at the same time. Compact? Bijou, springs briefly to mind. Large? No! Even the pits of a place at West Haven could accommodate two of this room. However, it is right next to Central Park and we can walk Downtown from here or catch the Subway very easily.
A welcome bed nonetheless after another busy day.

... the Hop on hop off bus; I’m pleased to say that this guide was a lot nicer. We decided to stay on the bus and do the loop. We went into Harlem that was a contrast with New York. Everything looked cheaper from the housing to the shops. We saw many families together and that’s what you don’t see in New York as it’s too expensive for families to live there.

Chelsea was another town along with Soho, Little Italy and China town, Greenwich Village were some of ...
