Our second day was a very long and confusing day. We woke up, had breakfast and were on the road at nearly 8:00. If we would have traveled straight through Nevada, then I think things may have been a bit boring. So I am now enjoying the morning of my birthday in the gorgeous Mammoth Mountain - I wanted to at least wake up in a proper bed on my 25th birthday! - before we head into the centre of Yosemite, up to Lake Tahoe and then out to San Francisco at the end of the week. After a Mac Donald's breakfast, very classy I know, we got the free shuttle bus up to The Main Lodge, hoping to get the gondola up to the mountain summit, unfortunately it was closed as they are getting ready for spring break and is only open on Saturdays and Sundays (just our luck). ... 5 to the good! The Park entrance is at 9945' (3031m) and from there it was a 46 mile drive down to Yosemite Valley nearly 6000' below with plenty of stops along the way for photos.
