The draw of the Pyrenees has always been pulling me, and as it’s now starting to get stifling hot and busy on the coast it seemed like a good time to get in and have a look. ... the view that was rather like looking up from the drain in a sink: there just seemed to be walls in every direction. Mercifully, though, eventually the col was reached, photos were taken, and the final descent of the day began.

... it up a bit and they did. The usual early starters started early. Gilles needed a hand getting his rear wheel back on (the chain was twisted) after fixing a flat, and Dave, Linda and I pushed off last shortly after 9:30am. It was going to be another hot day.

It was a fast downhill run to St-Beat where we started the first climb of the day to Col de Mente. A long-ish climb with moderate grades had me sweating but I didn't mind one ...
