... Miss J was fully committed as we headed off on what we interpreted as a 90 minute walk basically up and beyond along the rambling and steepish path where I'd walked yesterday afternon. I noted that another trail circled through a different section of the surrounding area and eventually merged with the trail suggested. So off we headed, me focussing mainly on the magnificent vista surrounding us and J ensuring she was able to negotiate the rocky trail amongst ...

... warmed to at least 31 C on the Col de Mente. The scenery is spectacular. Much of the time we are high up with unrestricted views. The roads are in pretty good shape and they go up hill and down hill and up hill ……. You get my drift.

(We are sitting here writing this outside on a timber trestle table outside the kitchen of our gite. The most French songs are playing on a CD player and the cook and his wife are singing along lustily). Anyway, back to the waterchannel! We followed the bank of this for some time, until the track ...

... buildings are probably of interest we don't really think miles of old steel cables and so on should be just left to litter the mountain sides. Anyway, we crossed a small bridge across the river and started climbing the mountain using a trail which was fairly steep but not too difficult to negotiate. We were making for a point where the GR 10 divides itself into two, the GR 10 and the GR 10E, which we were planning to take. It took us ...
