... to board a small boat for a cruise down to Dalyan. We thought there might have only been a few on the boat, but by the time it left at 10am it was fully loaded with Turks, Dutch, French and two Australians. A day on Crete, enjoying great mild weather, some 4,000 year old culture, fruits of the forest, home made wine and our first ever swim in the Mediterranean. Not a bad life. Another city (Heraklion) shut down by protests, this time students against police violence. We teamed up with our kiwi posse and hired a convoy of taxis that did a few of the sights. ... that was left was a shallow lake and marsh which gave rise to malaria which wiped out most of the population. An earthquake destroyed the rest of the city.

Following this we went, by boat, to a local seafood restaurant. We started with a delicious meze plate and then they served chicken, beef or fish. the meze plate, which I had was delicious.

Then the 1.5 hour ride back to the ship. Tomorrow is Kusadasi.
