... of the entire group before saying our farewells. It was well after midnight when in the middle of all our tears we said our goodbyes. The girls were in tears, especially Maelys and Jade and poor Hamish tried so hard to keep his tears in but collapsed in floods of tears as soon as we drove off. It has been a fabulous time with our new friends, they are so warm and generous and such a lot of fun. I hope we see them again ...

We were up early and on the road by 8am. We dropped the linen back to Averil, did a quick stop at the bakery and headed on our way. The GPS was saying we had a seven hour drive in front of us. During the morning we made good time and decided to detour to Amboise for lunch. We sat at a restaurant outside the gates of the chateaux and ate a quick lunch. Another day of cruising on the riverboat as we make our way to Provence. Today, a three hour stop in Tain l'Hermitage where we toured a winery (with just horrible wine), the Valrhona chocolate boutique (Barefoot Contessa says this is the best chocolate in the world), and an art gallery. Then back onboard. Five days in to a seven day cruise, we have made many friends with whom we sit in bar as scenery goes by. Life is ...

It was an interesting night's sleep beside the lake, being interrupted by noises from the assorted wildlife, including what sounded like chattering. Had a nice tour through this small town, massive food market. The ship was parked up right in front of the town with a small clothing market.
