... of its facilities, sharing sofa space with an over-friendly boxer dog! Back into the car and down Interstate 91 - a very pleasant drive for possibly our last "leaf peeping". The colours in this part of New Hampshire and Vermont are much more vivid, the leaves still not quite into falling yet.

... in a small town called Dummerston. Oh my gosh, who chose that name? What’s in a name? Well, can you imagine a person taking pride in graduating from the Dummerston High School. I think it would be embarrassing. People really need to think carefully when they name towns or their children! Even if it is to recognize a prominent citizen.

... The road winds through forested hills and the Fall foliage was just beginning to show its mettle. There are scenic lookouts at various spots and we sampled the Hairpin Turn and climbed to Whitcomb Summit (in the car, I might add). The scenery was stunning and we enjoyed a brief picnic in the warm sun. Then back into North Adams before climbing up to the highest point in Massachusets, Mt Greylock (almost 4000 ft up), with views ...

... our lunch, better than sitting in the car. Their restrooms were the first we have come across that have dual flush systems and there were even fresh flowers in the ladies restroom.

Continued on westward going between route 2 and 2A which sometimes were the same road. We made an unscheduled stop at a small town called Quabbin as Wes was quite tired. They put a lot of thought into naming their streets (see photo).

... And he was right.

Bright and and sunny all day with blue skies and big white, puffy clouds. My absolute favorite kind of day.

No treacherous riding conditions, no drivers trying to run me over. And the last hour was fun sweepers into Bennington! Beautiful scenery!
