... saying that, they got off at Monterey airport so that was a lot of shuffling of bikes & bags. There was a guy on there from Encinitas that we had met at Union station, he was there to scuba dive - he had a real lot to say about he's rides as he'd done long rides for triathlons. The nice driver dropped us right off at our hotel Adobe Inn which was great for $50 and we went just around the corner to a Thai restaurant that wasn't. Nice bed after a long ...

... called the Gaslamp district and was buzzing in the evening with restaurants and bars lining most of the streets. We also visited Little Italy with authentic shops and restaurants. The weather was sweltering in San Diego and was a perfect end to our time in the US. The roadtrip has been incredible - we've seen and learnt a lot about the country. Now it's time to catch our long flight to Fiji (12hrs) for the next leg of our adventure. Look forward to keeping you posted ...

... the hotel we headed for downtown to the pier to check it out. There were amazing ships and museums. Saw a huge statue depicting a sailor kissing a nurse in jubilation at the announcement of the end of World War Two. There was also a memorial to Bob Hope for his entertainment of the troops during the war. We didn't have time that late in the afternoon to look but would return before we left the area. Found ...
