We arrived in Mission Beach and got to our hostel which was much more swish than the last, pool and hammocks & breakfast included, always a bonus! I would never describe myself as an adrenaline junkie, but I had that mix of feelings that gave a glimpse into why all those crazy maniacs choose to do the things they do. And the trepidation paid off...I saw not just one but two ...

... expensive at Airlie Beach, so we might stay here and travel in each day. But the caravan park was not cheap as it was in 'peak season' (In the middle of winter? Oh yes, that's when all the Victorians come up.) So after one night we thought we'd try our chances at Airlie. Thought we'd get a coffee in the morning before leaving, but all the shops were shut, even Woolworths. Apparently it was the Proserpine show, and they had a public holiday for Show Day. But luckily the one cafe ...
