... along the highway there were dead kangaroos everywhere that had been hit by cars, we heard on the radio that after 4pm they come out so you've got to be extra careful driving after then. Airlie Beach was so pretty and as we walked across the seafront we said it was like walking through the grounds of a 5 star hotel, with lovely gardens, a public swimming pool/lagoon and barbecues with picnic benches lining the seafront, with shops, bars and restaurants lining the opposite side ...

Afterwards, the boat took us to a deserted beach with white sand, pure like driven snow. Walking along the beach my feet sunk ...

... about the island's history and the wildlife was very interesting. As the rain passed and we were back in the cars dec took the reigns to take us to our lunch stop. Lunch was at eurong, which was a small resort on the island where we would be staying the night. After lunch we were back in the car and off to lake Mckenzie - Hollie was driving at this point, just in time for the heavens to open again. Fortunately by the time we got inland to the lake the rain had passed and ...

... The rain was still coming down more often than not. On the way back we stopped at Babinda Bakery for a Broccoli and Cheese Slice, delicious!

On the road we saw banana plantations and forests to either side, more hilly now. We stopped and bought bananas from a roadside stall. Four for AUD1, delicious! We took the scenic route down through Mission Beach. Despite many warnings to take care there were no cassowaries for us, but there had been ...
