It's now Boxing Day, and after a very foggy and icy trip home late last night we unpacked and re-packed ready for our New Year holiday to Switzerland! We're just waiting at Cologne airport in Germany for our connection to Zurich, and I'm getting very excited about the forecast tomorrow predicting lots of snow! Perhaps less so about the NEGATIVE 13 degrees low on New Year's Eve in Geneva! ...

We enjoyed a relaxing morning before boarding the ship at 1PM. All aboard is 7PM and sailing time is 8PM.

It is wonderful to be back on the Wind Surf. The Wind Surf is the largest of the Windstar ships. We love the staff on the Wind Surf and it was great to see many of the staff that have sailed with us before. We are in stateroom 308 on deck three and will remain in this stateroom for all 19 days.

We left Cromarty in drizzling rain and drove down through the highlands into sunny Edinburgh. During the day we had it all - cloud, bright sunshine, torrential rain and low cloud on the high peaks, all of which added to the atmosphere. We took the Old Military Road through the Cairngorms National Park, which was truly spectacular. Towering bare hills, huge valleys carved by glaciers, tiny patches of lush green grass beside dark peat ...

... hear, the one o'clock gun, and a quick look through the delightful St Margaret's chapel (the oldest building in the castle). We had a look around the a couple of regimental museums, before heading to the very interesting Scottish War Museum. We then walked down the Royal Mile, which seemed a lot longer than a mile. Today we flew to Edinburgh where we will stay for two nights our accommodation was nice we had a room overlooking the street not far from the centre of town. I went to the hairdressers where my hairdresser Sarah here in Perth did her apprenticeship at and the girl that did my hair had worked with Sarah it sure is a small world.
