... up closing the place down. When we were getting ready to leave, it was pouring down the rain. We talked about a cab but figured by the time the cab got there, if one came, we could already be at the hotel so we headed out. By the time we got there, we were all soaked, rain dripping off our heads wet. We all were laughing pretty hard by the time we got to the hotel. Thank goodness it was a long overnight so I could hang my clothes up to dry ...

We got underway at 0930 and almost immediately fell in behind a tug and two helpers moving two big cranes and some big yellow cylindrical tanks. ... some Nutcracker Suite blasting up Topsail Island to go tear down our campsite.

The clan began to arrive Saturday afternoon and life became a blur. Kayaking until sunset, fishing, board games (rummikub, telestrations, ticket2ride, spades, poker) every night, throwing the aerobie ring into the gorse and hacking through the poison ivy to find it, skimming the shortbreak, burying each other, being sent to a sand-jail FOREVER by my young cousin Joey, catching ...

      Fireworks and Blisters

A travel blog entry by maryduttera on Jul 03, 2013

Tonight we went to the fireworks at Sound Side Park. The girls played on the equipment with a big bunch of other children while we listened to the music and relaxed.

Earlier Sandy and Mary walked to the point on the beach. Great day for a walk as the weather was perfect and there was a small breeze. Made the mistake of walking barefoot and wound up with painful blisters on the balls of my ...
