We spent Thursday (8/28) and Friday (8/29) in San Jose participating in a two day seminar sponsored by the Association of Residents of Cost Rica (ARCR) at the Autentico Hotel.

On Saturday, August 30th, we drove through the San Jose suburbs of Escazu, Santa Ana, Ciudad Cariari and Heredia. Escazu was fairly nice. The rest of the communities held no interest for us.

San Jose to Monteverde

A travel blog entry by alimaterna on Jun 25, 2014

We got up at 5:30 with Yahav to make our way to the bus station and jump aboard the bus to Monteverde. It's a little colder in San Jose, and it's a really ugly city with hookers riddling every corner. After 4 and a half hour windy bus journey, we arrived. As it was about midday we wanted to do something in the day. We were greeted from the bus by a crowd of hostel owners all shouting prices at us! we stumped for ...

Halfway through there was the standard stop for pineapple and watermelon like all of the other tours with this ...

... br style="font-family: monospace; line-height: normal;">Even without the straight A's that DH was accustomed to in her school days, we really enjoyed our extended stay here (we'll be dreaming of this as we get back to the more rapid fire traveling that we've typically done). And to all those frost-bitten folks back in the tundra that is Canada, did I mention how hot and sunny it was down here??

... I mentioned a friend that has some interest in possibly doing this program with us. The home has a very large kitchen and free wi fi and would be perfect for my friend...hint, hint Sue, it can happen! I bid goodbye to Turrialba and headed to San Jose. The trip was much easier this time without marathons. Just occasional cows sitting on the side of the road staring at me. I arrived at Hotel Grano de Oro around 5. I must admit I did absolutely no research on this hotel as the ...
