... was encompassed by tall trees which sheltered you and made you feel you were in the middle of nowhere, despite it being in the large city. It was recommended that I try a bread which then had the infamous paste of black beans on, topped with like an omelette egg and optional spicy tomatoe sauce, which was not that spicy! I have to say it really was quite yummy- unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of it, however, if you do ever go there they have an 'example' ...

... was on relations between Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Costa Rica shares borders with Panama and Nicaragua. Goods are cheaper in Panama because imports come into the country directly because of the Panama Canal. Costa Ricans often cross the border to purchase cheaper goods. Both are democracies and get along well.Different story with Nicaragua, discord going back to the 80s. Enough history for now.

... share salesmen.. yes. but not taxi drivers. our driver was really good. he took us right to the hostel, with no shena****ns like we had read about. also he didnt have a GPS and had no problem finding the place. we had a hostel booked in San Jose for 2 nights which was really nice. It was Nothing fancy but it was clean, in a safe area and we cold walk downtown. We had a private room with our own bathroom (complete with suicide shower) and bunk ...

... interesting part of the day was the 45 minutes we spent at the local farmer's market (feria) in the Rohrmoser suburb. In addition to the incredibly fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables available at the market, several vendors sold fish and chicken. The fish were
vermillion snapper. We did not check the prices but the fish were definitely fresh.

... than expected- the bus door fell off! I was hoping that I would pick up a huge amount of Spanish to help me over the next month but only one phrase sticks in my mind- 'Pura Vida' (pure life) which is the Costa Rican reply to everything and everything- I guess it's not a bad approach!
