Paruro, Cusco, Peru teresitaykusito... Aid kit and Free Luggage storage. When you go on the trek it is best to leave any luggage that you are not going to need behind in Cusco. Nearly all the hotels in Cusco provide a secure luggage deposit. Put any valuables in their safe. Very rarely do hotels charge for this service especially if you are returning to the same hotel after the trek. If there are any problems with your hotel we can arrange to store your luggage at our quechuas ...
Cusco, Cusco, Peru incatrail12... restaurant (lentil soup or “sopa de lentejas” to die for). Another is a place called the Muse Bar near the San Blas Plaza, which is a great place to relax with a book and/or gather with hostellers for early drinks before heading out on the town. And of course, I’ve done several fun nights of dancing and heading out with both locals and international folks – favorites include a pretty popular dance club called “Mama Africa,” as well as ...

Since they had to travel light, just themselves and their horse, they also developed a reputation for thievery and consequently became very unpopular.

However, when the colonies began to rebel against Spanish rule, the guacho came into his own. Cusco, Cusco, Peru escapedtoperu... a small boy carrying the entrails of a cow, wrapped up in the stomach of said animal. Kindof puts me off any meat based meals for awhile. Also had some local grog ´cerveche´(poor spelling) - a corn based beverage that has some alcohol in it. The lady was brewing it street side, and despite looking a bit less than sanitary (including scooping insects that laded in the pail), we drank it. So far....so good!!

More tomorrow -
Cusco, Peru srossb1971... had to carry our little rucksacks each day - jolly good idea. The porteres are the chaps you can see in the photos with packs on their backs bigger than themselves... The second day of trekking is the one everyone says is the hardest and it was - bloody great mountain we had to climb up and in pretty hot conditions. We´d also got up really early as we were camping. OK that´s enough of the build-up to Macchupiccu, turn to the next blog to see what happened on that day....

Cusco, Peru dinojay2... had heard over the radio about swine flu and wondered what we knew about that. We asked about their marriages and if they date. We learned that when a couple is interested in getting married, they live with one of their families for one year. During this time, they live separately and have no sex. The woman must demonstrate that she can weave clothing and cook. The man must prove that he can till the land and produce ...
Huilloc, Cusco, Peru journeyer... Wool Buds of Various Colours )an old bint crouched in the doorway selling... well, it goes without saying). The supermarket sold some peculiar products, including new Horniman Crackers, and the worrying combo of Fanny Tuna and Fanny Sardines... tasty. We bough a whole load of vegetables and pasta and went back to use the hazardous stove to cook dinner. Nicki and Claire also had a big argument but I can´t be ***** to go into detail about it here. Me and Claire ended up going ...
Cusco, Peru alastair6... 2 emergency stops on the way back so that Wendy could not throw up on all her fellow passengers. I kind of felt bad for her, but thought that it was ironic that it was her extreme paranoia that landed up getting her sick and not “the salad”. Jennifer and Wendy were dropped off first at their hotel. Said goodbye, but I didn’t think they heard as Jennifer helped Wendy up as she staggered back to the hotel like a drunken person on a late Saturday night.
