Saweni Beach Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji
... manage to pee on the floor if they try this on me! (well, not really, yet)
So nice flight actually as we didn’t need food or entertainment or water then a quick walk to immigration and we are in Fiji. Going into the baggage area, it was the first country I have visited where they have local singers serenading you as you walk out of baggage into the arrival lounge. I had arranged for a ...
Well, after another 15 hours on planes, our trip is over. Had a connection in LA where we saw Paul's brother, Pete, for a little bit. Then we got on our second flight to Chicago. We drove back to Davenport last night.
The Fiji trip was amazing. The people there were great... even if they don't know you, they say, "Bula!" which means, "Hello"... you hear this EVERYWHERE you go. I kind of miss it, actually.
Fiji has delicious white ...
Today we went to a secondary school that had students from age 14 to 20. It was our first time adjusting outside, but still with a roof over our heads. It was actually nice because we were out of the sun and had a very nice breeze going through the whole day. The kids at this school all like to laugh at each other as they are being adjusted, wish I know Fijian, so I could understand what they were saying to ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji erinandpaul07... numb! During the ceremony, one of the islanders come over to give you a cup made from out of a coconut shell. You then yell “Bula“! And you down the entire cup, no sipping or tasting, but gulp it down! Then you yell “madda” (which means empty) and give the cup back. Both Nik and I tried it twice! We are staying in Bures, which are huts! They have the back to basic “bucket” showers and its cold… ...
Robinson Crusoe, Western, Fiji worldtraveler2... for future challengers to part take so hopefully that will carry on.
It was then back to nadi with everyone, most were staying at another hostel so me and becky grabbed a taxi to smugglers cove which was so much better than our hostel purely because there was just more going on. We had our last supper together and said our goodbyes over dinner which was a good touch to an amazing 8 days in Fiji. i couldn't have wished to spend it with a better random group of ...
... spent the week enjoying the luxury, the facilities, the weather and of course the wonderful Fijian hospitality. We took a cruise to our own little deserted island one day and did some snorkeling etc. We also took a brief trip to Nadi town, not much for a capital city.
We were all very sad leaving and wished we had another week. I truely had found paradise!
... Dinner was pretty good with lots of choice. Kids free, Kathy and I F$88 with second adult half price. Still fairly expensive
Tomorrow off to Nadi. Little less sun planned today. Some redness developing
Watched the sunset,awesome
Kieran also gave birth to a coconut and slept with it at night
... br>We get on this cattle car of a Ferry boat, packed on each level with passengers going to the islands. It is a smooth boat ride and we find room on an outside deck to take pictures and talk to our new Australian friends that we shared a taxi with. They are funny and as we talk about our travels to New Zealand, they ironically share with me that Kiwi's (people from New Zealand) often don't establish eye contact. I thought that it was just us, but they tell me ...
Denarau Island, Fiji 90daywalkabout... our five precious night sin the islands. Quite why she couldn't have mentioned this before we sorted everything out I don't know, but we pick a local hostel and get ourselves to the taxi that is waiting outside. Our trip out to the islands proper will have to wait until the following day. The hostel is basic but functional and is similar to the cheaper places we stayed in Cambodia but with more beds. This is the largest dorm we have stayed in with 20 beds, and one toilet. The one ...
