The day started with an interesting drive, as we ascended to the lofty height of 3000 metres above sea level. We got stuck in one long traffic jam up the mountain, needed to put chains on our wheels to stop us skidding (definitely required), and we saw another car with a crushed roof as a result of an avalanche of snow.
