    Our first day at the Concours we bought tickets; Kirk test drove an F-type Jaguar; and, we attended the Gooding auction where apparently they sold $30.9 million worth of automobiles. As it was cool (in the 50s) it was nice to be sitting in a tent. The highest bid we witnessed there was $3.3 million for a 1968 Porsche 907 Longtail - a racing car!     ... winning the lottery and it was hard to keep up with them! Eventually we cornered them and dragged them off to dinner around the corner at The Outback Steakhouse which is an Australian themed restaurant. There weren't any Coopers Pale Ale, so we had to settle on a Coopers Lager until the women arrived. It was a pretty hearty serving and nobody went away from the table hungry.     ... back to the hotel via a local bar-restaurant, on the canal, but also closed.

    Back at the hotel, the kitchen has closed so we have to settle for whatever we can find in the pack, plus a packet of crisps and a chocolate from a machine. Moral of the story is don’t arrive in town at 11.30pm on Good Friday and expect to get fed. It is only pretty early by Phoenix time, but there is not a lot we can do, so go to bed.
