... me via Skype. Fellow Roosevelt '14 Scholar Laura Marano happened to be in San Diego at the same time so on Friday evening we headed to the old gas lamp quarter and catch up over dinner and drinks. We then spent Saturday sunbathing on Coronado beach. Laura went swimming in the sea, I gave that a miss it's warm but not warm enough for swimming. Plenty warm enough for ice cream though! Walked back along ...

... from there tomorrow. We could still see the ocean from the freeway at this stage, but we lost it at Oceanside City. The freeway was very busy going into San Diego and we did not see another sign for the Pacific Highway until we reached San Diego. Our hotel is near the airport. We have a great view of the harbour and Marina from our balcony here at The Sheraton. Still warm but a bit overcast which I believe it is today at home. Keeping up to date with the Referendum. ... we hit the city early and had to make a stop at a BMX shop for Fran where he ended up meeting a pro BMXer that he knows! We then went back to Pacific Beach for the afternoon. I conquered my fear of the Pacific Ocean and did some swimming and then rented a standup paddle board ☺️ We checked out the other beaches in the area and went back to Guava before picking up Eric at the airport! He's visiting for the next two weeks. We're now heading back up the mountain for the ...

... to them! A highlight was the ski chairlift-type thing that got them around the zoo, plus the very rare giant pandas and a meerkat colony.

Afterwards we quickly went to Mission Beach, where basically all there was was a cool outdoor practice surfing wave and an overpriced souvenir t-shirt shop. Hopefully dinner will be a bit better.

      Happy New Year!
