Today we woke to fog, fog, fog, which didn't clear until 2pm and we had a little sun peep. It has not been cold however. We posted 5 kilos of "stuff" back to Hoppers this morning - admittedly the heavy portion of that was binoculars. Paul and I have spent most of the day around the city precinct, walking and riding the hop on hop off bus. Bath has a population of ...
Off to check Cardiff out. Another city.
Onto Bath - wandered around. Used the park and ride, which are common around here since the cities are congested because of the narrow 1800 streets. Definitely the best way to discover what cities are all about is (a) find the information centre and (b) ride the on ...
... first time I have driven in about a month and a half, so I was really looking forward with it. Sadly I was saddled with a gutless Vauxhall of some variety which didn’t exactly inspire driving pleasure. Nonetheless we drove some nice roads through the countryside (in which I do not include the hideous M4 motorway) to Blenheim Palace. This is famous as the birthplace and childhood home of Winston Churchill and home to the current Duke ...
... Vicar looked worn out - no wonder when she told us after that she looked after 10 churches. We headed off into Newport to find some dinner and were slightly worried about the emptiness of the city, lack of eating places and the restlessness of people we saw. We did find a place that served a Sunday night roast. We got a meal each and a drink (wine, beer or soft drink) for ...
... days before their departure) it appears that a train reservation is enough to obtain the Visa, along with a complete itinerary of my stay. Sorting this will be my number one priority on Monday morning. I already have a quote for Ulaanbaatar to Beijing by train for £180. Not cheap but a necessary evil with just days to go to get this sorted. On the plus side it looks as if I will be in Tibet on Christmas Day. Looks as if it will certainly be a white Christmas for ...

Historical Traveler Reviews SACO Bath
We stayed at SACO Bath just a few days after it had opened in August 2006. We wanted to enjoy a relaxing weekend away and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Bath.
Loved SACO Appart Hotel
We rented a studio appartment. It was huge and very comfortable complete with large well appointed bathroom, CD, DVD and flat screen tv, dishwasher, washing machine. It is all new and tastefully furnished. The position is great close to the centre and you can walk to all attractions. Definitely recommended!
Excellent weekend away-perfect accomodation!
I have never stayed in a serviced apartment before and didn't know what to expect. Our apartment was excellent. The building seems very recently built and the apartment brand new. It is a typical Bath Terrace which has a modern build-on to the rear and hold about 100 apartments i'd guess...however, you would never know anyone else is there, it is very peaceful. We had a 1 bed apart. with a bedroom, bathroom, and lounge/kitchen. The appliances are all new and sparkling, very tastefully decorated. So clean and comfortable.
The block is in the centre of Bath, 2 mins walk from an M&S to get your food bits and the same distance to all the shops/Spa/bars/Sights. Perfect for a weekend away!
My wife and I have stayed in Bath six times in recent years. This is the first time we've stayed in a Serviced Apartment, and I can only relay what a positive experience it was!
booked via otel.com for $170/night. saco was very difficult to find (it only has a very discrete sign next to the door), but was a good location near shops and restaurants. it was about a 5 minute walk from the main shopping district. the inside accomodations were quite nice - very modern and clean, simple lines. i loved it more than any other hotel we stayed in throughout the UK. we had a flat that was one hallway with 3 doors - one door led to a main kitchen/sitting area, one door to a bathroom, and one door to the bedroom. definitely recommended.
I have never been so impressed with hotel / apartment accommodation as I was with this experience. Beautiful building, good location (just off the main street area), polite and friendly reception staff, and an amazing apartment.
I had never stayed in a serviced apartment before, but I have to say that from now on I will be looking out for them.
I think we paid about £60 for one of their studio apartments, which had everything we needed, and was really nicely kitted out.
What was great was that it had its own kitchen with plates and cutlery, and they gave us a little food basket to start us off - which was great for breakfast.
The only minor gripe was the road noise, but its right in the city centre - I guess theres not much u can do about it.
All round it was an excellent stay, really central, great staff, excellent value for money.
