83-87 Vasey Esplanade Trinity Beach, Queensland, Australia, 4879, 61-7-4057-6512-
After we cruised our van in to drop it off and spent one last night in a caravan park, we went straight to our accommodation in Trinity Beach. It turned out to be a great find. We had a full two bedroom apartment right on the beach with a kitchen, laundry, swimming pools, and a lot more. After living inside of a Wicked Campervan for the past 2.5 weeks, a bed with air conditioned rooms was heavenly. Plus we were able to cook for ourselves in our kitchen and not use the van's backpacker's stove...

... the drinks service in the apartment after we got back last night. Rosie was serving behind the bar and Dennis was promised a topless service. Well what a disappointment for Dennis when Eddie came round the corner with no top on to deliver his drink. Lots of laughs here as you can probably tell. We were hoping to upload some photos today by the way but unfortunately they don't give us access here to the connections but ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ednabuchan... of the forest, they eat the fruits of over a hundred tropical plants and thus disperses the seeds throughout the forest. They are an endangered species and fiercely protected, there were many signs warning motorists to be on the look out for these elusive creatures but they were keeping well hidden on my journey up to the Cape, however on the return journey I was driving very slowly and was lucky enough to see a young bird at very close range and later a large fully grown ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia jatty... 8211; at that hour! – collecting passengers for Wewak.
We took seats closest to the cab. A few other passengers and their cargo of dried fish got on, and we took off on the very bumpy ride to Wewak.
It was impossible to sleep. Fortunately, the clouds had cleared, and the moonlight was lovely. I did try to close my eyes a few times, but I was usually awakened rudely when, seconds later, a bump slammed my head against the metal bar ...
... the beach was a river estuary !! Hundreds of sun seekers lay side to side on a grass strip between the road and the sands .... I was quite surprised by this as advertising always seemed to show the white sand beaches and palms ... Nope ..... We continued our drive around ... The ...
Kuranda, Queensland, Australia dinziez... My first 2 days here I walked along the esplanade, swam in the lagoon (a saltwater pool by the shore because the beach is non existant), got my dive medical and booked a few things.
Day 3 I did a day tour through the Tablelands (South of Cairns), strictly because there was one place (Paronella Park) that I really wanted to see and it was the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to see it. We ended up seeing some falls, a MASSIVE fig tree, and lots of ...
... to downtown. It’s totally a resort town, the feel of it on first impression felt like we were in Cancun again, but with Australian accents everywhere.
Once again, our wicked Accor Hotel special came through for us again. We were able to stay at the 5 star Pullman Reef Hotel & Casino which for us was really posh. A bit too luxurious for our usual tastes, but no one’s complaining!
We unpacked quickly, sprayed on ...
... and went to check the mud crab pots. To be honest I thought we were just going for a ride so when he pulled up a big pot and a mud crab escaped and started coming at me I was a little freaked out (apparently they can take your finger off and when they clamp they can just leave it and break off there claw, so its a bit of a problem). We avoided any crocs and got 2 legal sized mud crabs which we are gonna cook up for ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia bpippert... problem) and was all-enthusiastic when she came back from it. In the meantime I went snorkeling for the first time in my life and had the feeling that I was dreaming. In the afternoon we went snorkeling together and took the underwater camera with us (see photos). What a great day! The next 2 days we hired a car and drove up to Cape Tribulation, where rainforest meets the ocean. We stopped for a crocodile cruise on the way, this part of Australia is known for its crocodile ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia saskiab... bunk beds can be particularly great. We went to the Woolshed again for our free meal. This time I went for the chilli. Surprisingly it looked and tasted just like the Spag bol but with kidney beans and a bit of chilli powder thrown in. The girls shared a salad as they were a) not that hungry and b) skint. We had a few drinks as it was $10 for 5 drinks with a voucher thingy. So we got the vouchers and mixed our drinks as you do. After a while in ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia oldhamguy... to buy a pack of ice creams with the intention of sitting by the pool back at the apartments but by the time we got there, the rain had started and proceeded to get worse but can't complain as we had expected to see much more of it here than we had so far. In the evening, we drove into Cairns and checked out boat trips to the Reef. Since these mostly left early in the morning and we had to pack up the next day to ...
