Well deserved baths

... pushing him out of the first ditch, we gave him a push up the hill until he came to a corner where he and Andy nearly went off a nasty hill to the side. No need to tell all, but about 4 hours and many scary moments later, we were back where we started.
Whew.
So it was pretty late at night when we pulled into monroe, home of the mystic hot springs. After some searching we pulled into the parking lot, all ...

Fun in Fish Lake (but no fish!)

... Bob and Mike braved the cold one day to go fishing. I opted to keep the home fires burning in the RV (I like to fish, but not enough to do it in weather that requires longjohns. . . .). They came back with no fish--hmmm. . . But they did have some good stories about the ones that got away! It was great to see Mike again, and we had a great time even without the fish!

hiking up and sliding down

Today deciding that we'd had enough laziness (not really) we went for a hike. Nice enough until I made the decision to go up this huge steep hill. We walked along while I wondered how I'd get back down that huge hill. After another series of small hills we figuered we'd hit the other side of the mountain and we'd be able to come back around on flat terrain...No. The ...

Day 11: 4 Corners, Arches National Park, ?? Utah

... We couldn't find any real information about what was going on, except for the fact that it was indeed a wild fire. (We had some better views once we were in the National Park). We arrived at Arches, located on the middle Eastern side of Utah, at about 4:30PM. We gathered some maps and took off across the park. The various arches, rock formations, and sights are scattered across a rather large area. So you drive around, park, and either view from a ...

Day 50 - Just Chillin Out, Havin A Bud

Awoke to blue sky and this time it looked set to stay for the day. After a couple of hours drive north, following the Sevier River along the valley floor, we arrived in Richfield, a sizeable town. Much to Mel's delight, there was another all-singing, all-dancing, Asda-like Wal Mart. So after stocking up on groceries and Chip having an ...

Day 49 - Hoodoo Magic

... very, very strong winds.

We turned off the highway at a town called "Junction" and headed into the mountains to find our camp-site, City Creek Campground in the Fishlake National Forest, which turned out to be up a dirt track about half-way up a mountain. Very quiet and peaceful and free!

Sleep....sleep....sleeeeeeep!

Short day driving today. My eyes are bagged. I am where I planned to be when I mapped out my return home. Surprise. Surprise. When I left Vegas this morning I decided to drive to Provo, another 250 kms further. But I know how to read the signs now. It was time to stop. That's It! That's All! PS. The ICE show was amazing last night. Third row, center stage. But that wasn't hard to get. It wasn't a sold out show.

Canyonlands, The Needles

... huge rock formations through to a field surrounded by needles which are more slender rock formations dotted with pretty flowers. We also got to climb down into a narrow 'canyon' and hike deep in the shade We noticed lots of older people doing the hike which was nice. By the time we got to the 8 mile mark I was getting tired and hot so we sat by a rock for shade and ate a vegemite sandwich (thanks Launi & Pauly).
