Spent another night on a parking lot near the city centre. When trying to find a decent place to park our van near all the sights, we got caught up in a lybyrinth of narrow streets, filled with cars (sometimes even in the middle of the crossings...). Well, Boštjan is a very good driver, but my nerves are not as good as I thought.
With the help of a security guard at a bank in one of the ...
Those of you that know Mary, know that for some strange reason, the most bizarre, random, and embarrassing things happen to her, and only her ... until today. We call them Mary Moments, and this morning, I had a very bad one of my own.
I woke up and noticed that a bunch of shoes, clothing, toiletries, etc. were scattered about the floor directly where I would normally hop off of the top bunk. Not wanting to land on any of it and twist an ankle, I ...
June 14, Sunday
I think I lost a day somewhere along the line. Anyway we left this morning after a long wait for the woman to come at 10, she was late, as the elderly man on the reception did not know how to take a credit card payment. So much for being ready to leave 1 hour before our scheduled time, we left late.
We are on toll highways to get us to and around Barcelona. They are pretty cheap ...
Boring long day on the A23, highest col 1223m.
Looking for aire in Zaragoza when Brits James, Clare and Katie in their motorhome took us under their wing to the park they'd already stayed in. Left over from 2008 water based expo, with typically spanish rusty iron "sculpture".
35 degree C until light shower cooled us all off.
Bren washed her hair in the public drinking fountain, starting a trend with the other family.
... camera around your neck. She is a lovely person but not very switched on about security, she was seen that day in the middle of town holding a map up and making her self look like a tourist so the word soon gets around town. It could have been a lot worse than it was. It will be interesting if some people that are booked on the 43week trip will stay for that long as people have no idea what its like, doesn't really seem like they read all the information. People had no idea that ...
Spain, Portugal, West Africa, Spain kirstenian... NYC in that statement "the city that never sleeps" maybe in times square but you try and find a bar a 3 in the morning and lets see how far you get... i stand to prove corrected on that) museums, the longest and warmest summers, the forever cristal blue sky, and most importantly the spirit, i know it sounds like ***** and i even got mugged there one night but just being out on the street you get a feeling for what the people are all about and they more than anything make ...
Zaragoza, Aragón, Spain and Canary Islands elrigster... years old built of dry fit stone and stil standing: From Zaragoza we travelled ,ore easterly toward Lleida Catalan. Amongst the ochre coloured rocks and mist blue with mountain ranges were immense wind farms. Turbines and tozers several hundreds of feet high. Onward our lovely 1 litre Fiat Punta purred toward LLieda.
Lliedia, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands hollingers... entering the city. I instantly decided that if I ever made a list of women I'd travel back in time to sleep with, she'd be on it- it's not something I ever plan on doing, but still. I walked round the city for a bit before coming to the Plaza De Pilar, a truly amazing square on the banks of the river. In addition to several fountains and some Roman ruins, there is the massive Cathedral Des Pilar. According to legend, St James, one of Christ's apostles, had ...
Zaragoza, Spain englishanddrunk... weird. The worst part is-he used to be a police officer and so when she told Sr. Morse what had happened he replied, "do you realized that you are accusing a retired police officer of being a pedophile?" She cried a lot because she was really upset. He finally understood what she was saying and believed her and everything but it was a pain in the ass. I just felt really bad. It just sucks a lot. As always, I am incredibly lucky with my amazing family.
Zaragoza, Spain vholmes09... to the temperature gauges around town. Spaniards appear obsessed with knowing what the temperature is, as there are indicators everywhere. I am staying right next to Zaragoza´s main attraction - the Plaza del Pilar. Here you find the enormous Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar. Being Sunday evening, it was rather busy with the locals attending mass. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it is alleged that she visited here in 40AD. Locals who visit the church, kiss a gold ...
