I called my lodging, the Annabelle Inn to pick me up at the airport since transfers are included in your rate, as they are at many Aspen/Snowmass properties. Prior to my arrival they said that if they were unable to accommodate a pickup (due to arrival before or after front desk hours etc), they would reimburse the cost of a High Mountain Taxi. After dinner we had to hightail it from the Venetian down to the MGM Grand to have our minds blown by David Copperfield. It was an amazing show and some of the **** he did was so incredible. Today it was the Giant Slalom. Two runs several hours apart with the lowest total time the winner. As it was yesterday skiers only have a course inspection several hours before. The day was not too cold and the course was once again in perfect condition. You really must congratulate the organisers as the course has been immaculately prepared for all these races. ... course. Once again, to our amazement this was a free community event and there were drinks and nibblies on offer. We really enjoyed the gluhwein and stangely enough the buttermilk popcorn.

The perfect way to end such an exciting day? Fireworks of course, and Aspen didn't disappoint. Multi coloured fireworks lit up the sky and the snow on the slopes of the mountain. A truly spectacular and memorable day.

... anything after hiking up Ajax is a breeze! As we neared Crater lake, the skies cleared and the trail opened into lovely meadows. The lake was empty with just a muddy bottom, but the Bells were mostly revealed and majestically covered with snow, making it a spectacular sight.
