It looked like it was going to rain today but after we looked at the weather we decided a short ride or getting a little wet was better than riding in the truck or sitting around today. We briefly debated going to the train ride in Bryson City but we all slept in a little late after last night and it would have been a rush to get there in time. We ended up getting a late start (shortly after noon) but headed out on the bikes because we came here to ride after all. We got in almost ...

... were a number of twisty passes and challenging exciting riding to I-81. The pictures tell the story. In Pigeon forge, what once was a cow path is a busy honkytonk of amusement and hotel/motel/restaurants and fun. Dolly World isn't even visible from the main drag. ... which was backed up for quite a ways. It took several minutes to actually get off the ramp and there were police officers directing traffic at the intersection. Must be a temporary problem. As we headed south, the traffic coming north was backed up for nearly a mile. This place didn’t look like it would generate that kind of traffic to me.

We saw a sign for a Great Smoky Mountain visitor center and we pulled off onto the shoulder, which was ...

A Day in Gatlinburg

... Visitors Center. It was lunch time and the ride to and through Cades Cove is pretty long and we were not sure about food availability so we turned around and went to Gatlinburg. We rode down the main street and then settled on lunch at the Park Grill. We had the salad bar and split a burger. It wasn’t very good to me and a bit pricey for lunch but we were able to remain parked there so I included the ...
