... were going to continue our rv trip. An hour later we had it all worked out but we just had to buy all our gear and beat the impending snow storm, which we didn't. Barely made it. But did we have fun watching three feet of snow fall in three days. Simply amazing to our southern eyes. Today we trek on. Next stop a park outside of Gunnison, ...

After a final week at Chuckleberry of chainsawing, wood splitting and bunkering the place down for winter it was finally time to start a new chapter in my journey. Icecave would be picking me up and taking me out to a place called 'Half-way hotsprings for some relaxing and exploring before I headed off to Colorado.

... mostly tree skiing. The girls and I spent an afternoon there - I'm not sure if that is where I did my massive face-plant, but when you are following lunatics over jumps (of course I didn't see the jump)...well, that happens! ... far as Booth Falls twice I’m
wondering what lies beyond it if I were to continue on the trail, one which
continues on for many miles and goes much higher. I’ve spent a lot of time skiing
in Vail over the years but have often wondered what lies further north of I-70,
one of those pockets of terra incognita in my Colorado travels. Someday I’ll
make it up the dirt road from Vail to Piney Lake in that area.

... before some real hiking. We took the night in Breckenridge fairly easy
in preparation for our more strenuous hikes in the days ahead, in contrast to
our usual boozy reunions. Doug was quite unimpressed with the Italian
restaurant he chose in Breckenridge, one not memorable enough for me to recall
the name, but he’s from the East Coast and a bit of an Italian food snob.
