Day 6

It's Billy's Birthday!!!!! My gorgeous man is now 30!! Yay! He is officially old lol!! To celebrate his exit from his glorious 20s I planned a tour of all your 7mate reality shows including, Pawn Stars, Counting Choppers and Tanked. We went to all the stores and met a few of the guys on the shows, we also went to the stores of some of Rick's 'Buddies' that he calls in to value the old toys and sports memorabilia. Some of the original buildings are evident and very well maintained. They are similar in style to the 'painted ladies' houses that we saw in San Francisco. All the local businesses are in the process of putting up their decorations. You have to admit the North Americans do this better than most. It was great to see real live Christmas trees for sale outside the local supermarket. Different types Spruce, fir, etc) ...

After two huge days on the hill it was good to have a quiet evening. A couple of delightful Californian Pinot Noirs in front of the fire was a lovely way to finish one of the most exciting weekends we have experienced. To think we do it all again with the men next weekend in Beaver Creek! Bring it On!!

... carved their way down the course. It was very steep and tricky in parts and some of the more fancied skiers struggled in the conditions. We cheered, supported all of them and especially our Aussie Greta Small. It was not meant to be today as she crashed out a third of the way down. After 66 competitors had skied, the field was narrowed down to a final 30 who would ski the 2nd run after lunch.

... end up going about 75 miles out of our way because we would have had to go around Black Canyon. We turned around and headed up the Pass again, this time hoping to see the Kebler Elves....love that pun. After going over the pass we found the turn off and headed on to what we thought was a 4wd road. Disappointment :( All it was was a poorly maintained dirt road with the suggestion to be careful and not haul a trailer across the Ohio Pass. ...
